Apple’s
Mobile Catering Heads to Mississippi to Help in the Relief Effort after
Hurricane Katrina
Shortly after Hurricane Katrina decimated millions of acres and effectively
destroyed millions of lives left in her wake, Apple’s Mobile Catering
was dispatched to Mississippi to help pick up the pieces.
Stationed at a US Army field Hospital in Gulfport, Apple’s and its
able staff fed the doctors, nurses and other military personnel who were
on hand to treat the thousands of wounded and sick individuals who managed
to survive the hurricane and the fallout of its devastation.
Working round the clock to feed personnel, Apple’s encountered what
so many others who have gone south to assist have had to deal with as
well: a war-like environment constricted by food and fuel shortages, disease,
polluted water and any number of other byproducts of this type of disaster.
Owner and Operator David Orr looks at the region realistically. “In
all honesty, cleanup and rebuilding of the Gulf States will take years,
and we plan to help as much as possible for as long as possible in the
reconstruction of the area. It’s our goal to help people reclaim
their lives and their homes in the aftermath of this mind-boggling devastation.
Truly, news footage and still photos don’t even begin to illustrate
the losses that people have suffered. We’ll stay in the region for
as long as we’re needed.” |
